CRITICISM AS A SPEECH ACT: HEYRANOK AS A CASE STUDY

Criticism is a judgment passed on the negative and positive attitudes and characteristics of a person or a thing. It can be spontaneous or function as a vital "speech act" that plays a prominent role in evaluating entities. This study adopts a descriptive-analytical approach based on Nguyen’s model to explore the application of direct and indirect criticism strategies in the Kurdish "Hayranok". And that is in the book (Hayranok) by (Ismail Badi). To determine the findings, the study employed statistical methods. The primary objective is to identify criticism strategies in the Kurdish Hayranok as a tool for expressing mutual emotions. The most significant result indicates that the "Severe or Harsh Criticism" strategy (a sub-category of direct criticism) recorded the highest usage rate at 72% of the data. This high percentage is attributed to the fact that emotions in Hayranok are expressed with honesty and intensity. Historically, the ancient tribal system in society-imposed restrictions on personal freedom and love stories, forcing individuals to express their suppressed feelings through sharp criticism. Furthermore, the dialogic nature of Hayranok allows both parties to confront one another and openly vent their internal emotions.
