Compliment as a Politeness Strategy in Kurdish Language a Pragmatic Study

Speech act of compliment is an important act of speech and is a part of pragmatic level. This research attempts to study compliment as a politeness strategy in Kurdish language in order to determine that the compliment is regarded as a strategy of politeness. This research entitled: (Compliment as a strategy of Politeness in Bahdenin Kurdish language) attempts to study how compliment is used as negative and positive politeness. The research was conducted according to the descriptive analytical method. The main objective of this research is to find how compliments is used as a strategy for positive and negative politeness. This research consists of two chapters: the first chapter, entitled (compliment and pragmatics) and the concept and functions of compliment are studied in general, the compliment as speech act and compliment and gender. The second chapter deals with compliment as a politeness strategy.
