Abstract

This study aims to determine the correlation and effect between organizational symmetry and organizational silence in the sample of faculties of Duhok University. The study designs a questionnaire, according to the five weights Likert scale, that contains (35) questions in order to measure the dimensions and variables. To achieve the goal of this study two hypotheses have been developed; the first one indicates that there is a significant correlation between organizational symmetry and organizational silence (together and singular) among the teaching staff in considered faculties, the second hypothesis indicates that there is a significant effect of the organizational symmetry on organizational silence (together and singular) among the teaching staff in considered faculties. The questionnaire has been given out to the teaching staff only in the faculties of Duhok University. The study chooses a random sample, and its number reaches to (90) questionnaires, (59) of them were valid for analyzing, and then the percentage of response was (65%). The study uses many statistical tools to process and analyze data by using (SPSS) package. Accordingly, the study has come to the group of findings, the most important of these findings are: there is agreement among the respondents that the dimensions of organizational symmetry are available in the considered faculties. On the other hand, the lack of experience, as one of the organizational silence reason, was the least reason presence in the considered faculties. Another finding is there is a significant correlation and effect of the organizational symmetry on the organizational silence in the considered faculties. Moreover, the fear of isolation and harming the relations is one of the main causes of organizational silence in the considered faculties. Finally, the study presents a set of proposals that have been extracted in the light of the results of the study, from these proposals: the administrative leaders should take advantage of this point for the benefit of the school/ the faculty through assigning the employees to perform their tasks through work teams. In addition, the researcher recommends evoking the organizational similarity dimension because of its impact on the performance of teaching staff. This requires increased attention to the feelings of the faculty and do meet their requirements and needs.
