Historical Change of Kurdish Vowel Sound

This study examines a very important area of language, phonology. The methodology adopted here is both descriptive and analaytical as well as historical where by stages of vowel change in Kurdish language are described and descaussed starting form old kurdish to modern Kurdish. The research includes the following: The main factors for language change. Rule and priciples of sound change in Kurdish language. The study then focuses on the core subject matter, that is the historical change of seven Kurdish vowels and historical accounts and perceptions of such change in other indo-Europran languages as well as in modern Kurdish. The study lays out a number of results in a table for the change of old Kurdish vowels to modern Kurdish vowels, while suggesting that these change are ongoing and that they can be perceived in today’s Kurdish dialects.Downloads
