European attitude from Kurdish issue between values and interests

Abstract

This study highlights Kurdish issue and position occupied in the policies of European countries within the framework of the basic principles on human rights and humanitarian intervention, in addition to its national interests. In light of adoption of EU strategies towards different regions of the world, including Middle East, EU was held agreements of understanding, cooperation and partnership with the countries of this region, especially with Turkey, Syria, Iraq and Iran, that all together face Kurdish issue and its consequences in these countries.Here the Kurdish issue was present in the relations between the EU and the parties individually but not at the required level, and they tip the balance in terms of giving priority to narrow interests of European countries at the expense of principles and European values ​​such as the protection of human rights and the right of minorities...etc. We assume here, that the European countries approaching Kurdish issue in light of their strategies and policies towards the Middle East from two perspectives: the first centered on the protection of the European human rights, values ​​and principles of the European in general, while the second is about European interests in the region, despite overlapping between the two perspectives to express the position from Kurdish issue, however, the balance was often tend toward interests at the expense of principles and values​​. Accordingly, we chose to address this study through two parts: the first focusing on European protection of human rights and how they deal with Kurdish issue. The second part covers dealing with Kurdish issue in terms of European interests.
